Answer: This is an apron made of cloth. If you pour yourself with water, you will get wet. If you sprinkle water, the apron may catch most of it. There is no lining inside, so it is waterproof.
Question: Is the pocket large enough to hold the phone without hanging it out?
Answer: Yes, the pocket is big enough to hold a smart phone, even a bulky smart phone. I just measured mine. They are about 6.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep. Since they are completely vertical, it is almost impossible for the phone to fall off them while crouching.
